Hi, I’m Barney — a former primary teacher turned virtual assistant, here to help small businesses stay clear, connected, and consistent as they grow.
Teaching taught me a lot more than how to plan a good lesson. It taught me how to stay organised under pressure, communicate clearly with all kinds of people, adapt quickly when things change, and keep a steady head when it all gets a bit chaotic. I also learned about the incredible trust that's placed in a teacher to guide and empower young minds. My background also includes time spent in marketing, where I honed my understanding of how businesses connect with their audience and build their brand effectively through consistent messaging.
These are exactly the skills I now bring to Cavalry — supporting entrepreneurs who are growing their businesses and need reliable, capable backup behind the scenes. Hi there! I'm Barney, your friendly virtual assistant — part problem-solver, part storyteller, and 100% here to make your life easier.
Over the years, I've worn quite a few hats (some literal, most metaphorical). I’ve worked in the fast-paced worlds of film & TV, advertising, recruitment and teaching, picking up a very eclectic set of skills — and even more stories.
I’ve always loved to travel and have been lucky enough to live in both France and Italy. Speaking the lingo definitely helps when ordering your croissants and gelato, but a knowledge of different cultures also comes in handy when your project needs a little ‘je ne sais quoi’.
Oh, and when I’m not working? I’m usually cycling somewhere far too ambitious, like that time I bikepacked across France - from the Channel to the Med - for charity (yes, there were hills, and yes, I questioned my life choices at least once per climb). Can’t get enough of being on two wheels!
