About
Hi, I'm Barney — a former primary teacher turned brand designer, here to help small businesses save time on websites, branding and visual materials so they can focus on their actual work.
Teaching taught me more than how to plan a good lesson. It taught me how to stay organised under pressure, how to explain complex things simply, and how to spot what's actually important versus what just feels urgent.

These are exactly the skills I now bring to Cavalry — supporting small business owners who are brilliant at their work but losing hours to websites, presentations and branded materials they'd rather not be doing.

In 2025, I left teaching to build Cavalry. Since then, I've helped coaches, consultants, financial advisors, sleep consultants and businesses across every sector you can imagine. What do they have in common? They all needed someone who could handle the design work properly so they could get back to their clients.

Whether it's designing a website that works without shouting, creating slide decks that match your expertise, or building branded materials you're actually proud to send out, I handle the visual side so you can focus on the work you're good at.

The teacher background shows up in everything I do. I look for structure before aesthetics. I explain things clearly. I don't hold back useful advice just to protect my services. And I train you to update your own site when you're ready.

What makes Cavalry different
Planning before building
We focus on structure before aesthetics. Good design isn't just how things look – it's how they hold together. The work before the work matters.
Strategic approach
We're clear about what we can and can't do. If something's outside our expertise, we say so rather than overpromising.
Planning before building
We want you to be able to update your own site. That means proper training with step-by-step guides for your specific website, not vague instructions.
Strategic approach
We're strategic partners, not just executors. If you ask for 8 pages, we might recommend 4 pages with better structure instead. The strategy isn't about how many pages you have – it's about whether each page earns its place.
Enough about me. This is about you.
So, what's your story? Spending too many evenings wrestling with your website when you could be with your family? Putting off that important presentation because you're not sure how to make it look professional? Sending out materials you're not quite proud of because there's no time to do them properly?

That's where Cavalry comes in. I handle the websites, slide decks, documents and branded materials that are eating your time. You get back to the work you're actually good at - and maybe we share a few good stories along the way.
